EotW: Cast part 1

This story actually started partially around the idea of dragon-riding characters interacting with a giant-monster universe, but a lot has changed since back when I started. Riding may be out, because...well, it would be stupid dangerous.

She doesn't have a name yet, but a temporary name for note purposes is "Nass" - I've been favoring making her of Native American descent or a mix of native and Hispanic. She lives with a largely unremarkable band of migrant human survivors, though some find her adventurous nature annoying and reckless she has always displayed keen senses, she's good at figuring out the behavior and state of mind of various monsters and seems to have something of a danger sense.
“NASS” is the entry point to the story. Though her life is very different from anyone today's she is relatively close to the average lifestyle of 2050. She lives with a post-apocalyptic wandering tribe of refugees from the Southwestern United States and Mexico. She's grown up in a scrounging for survival situation with only remnants and stories of the industrial and information era. She is intelligent but poorly educated, and is particularly good at figuring out monster behaviors and surviving wild situations. She is good with firearms but tends to go out “under-armed” according to most people, feeling that if you get into a situation where you need Gatling guns and rockets to survive it, you're doing something wrong. However she hasn't lived a life where she encounters the sentient enemies (Talanticans, Aliens, Robots, etc.) that often and will have her views challenged over the course of the story.
One day she accompanies a small team into a city to scrounge for supplies. A group of large insects detect them and they're forced to flee into the sewers, she gets separated from the group. She falls through an old decayed section into something that shouldn't exist - some forgotten temple beneath the city. She either encounters the dragon or an artifact that allows their psychic connection to form.
The dragon has a temporary name of "Silveria" and she's essentially the setting's equivalent of Mothra. She cares for the earth and its spiritual well-being and is overall a noble sort of character. She's not as large as many of the monsters, but possesses her own unique power. "Nass" proves willing to help her search the world to find the other elemental dragons and try to restore a balance to the world.
Currently I'm thinking the powers this dragon has are the obligatory breath-beam and probably some ability to heal or promote life - cleansing pollution. Maybe a forcefield, and warping light to be invisible. The psychic connection might let "Nass access some of her powers so she's not limited to being just the human translator.
Yeah, it's kind of weird, and I'm not sure how it goes with the rest of the set-up which is very much soft science fiction... If it's too much to jam into one work I may have to scrap it, maybe scavenge elements later.

I kind of wanted a 'noble' appearance for the "Silveria", but being really unsure how to do that I kind of tried to make some plates that look kind of like a mane, kind of like a lion given their reputation. That or maybe rather wolf-like? I dunno.
